Wise Words – Humility Punks Pride (Psalms 36:11)

Psalm 36:11-12 (NKJV)

Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been cast down and are not able to rise.

There is wickedness in our hearts whether we like it or not (Jeremiah 17:9). What is not there is excessive pride, which when coupled with wickedness means we will fall at the hands of evil and not be able to rise again. We become trapped in the heart posture of being wicked AND proud of it or too proud to accept we need help in changing our wicked ways. We can defeat excessive pride when it attacks by remaining humbly submitted to the will of the Lord at all times. When we allow God’s will to govern our hearts it displaces the wickedness that is there and allows us to rise to our divine identity in Him. Let’s stay continually submitted to the will of God. When His will comes first in our hearts, even when we fall we can still rise.

It’s all about faith.
