Sounding Off: Michael Eric Dyson on Obama’s View of Same-Sex Marriage

Some African-American pastors have openly criticized President Obama for his embrace of marriage equality, using biblical references and literal interpretations of scripture to support their claim. Bishop Harry Jackson Jr., Senior Pastor at Hope Christian, is one of them. Michael Eric Dyson shares his perspective on the deeper issues and uses the context of historic biblical usage and the foundations of Civil Rights to shed new light on the debate. Professor Obery Hendricks joins the conversation to offer an expert opinion.  As the bible was once used to forcefully oppress and marginalized blacks and deny rights such as interracial dating and racial equality, many untapped perspectives surface in this discussion.
