The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
God is in none of his thoughts.
He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
I shall never be in adversity.”
When our hearts and thoughts are void of God, free will and pride run rampant and unchecked throughout our spirit. We, in effect, become our own gods and worship ourselves, making up our own rules and codes of behavior as we feel. In this notion of “freedom” we actually become enslaved to the inevitable wickedness that is in our hearts by nature (Jeremiah 17:9). It is only after some adversity has crushed our stubbornness and trumped what our free will and pride can solve that we begin to look beyond ourselves for God. Let’s diligently keep God in our thoughts and hearts so that we can avoid this miserable cycle. Though it is in our hearts wickedness does not have to be our undoing. Choosing God gives us an eternal solution.
It’s all about faith.
